Central Moves are preparing for house moves during The London 2012 Olympic games
with Just Over 2 months to go the games will be causing disruption for most of July, August and September. The Roads and transport system in London will have a dramatic effect on potential London house movers the main arterial roads supporting London will be designated solely as “Olympic Traffic Lanes”. This means there will be reduced number of lanes which in turn will have a knock on effect for delivery vehicles and our own removal vehicles. This disruption could delay our vehicles and moving teams arriving on site as well as carrying out the move. Parking will also be affected, which could incur delays to moving times too.
If you were planning on moving during those months, you might want to reconsider moving before or after those dates depending on whether you’re in one of the affected areas as travelling might be very difficult for your move day. For a list of the area’s and dates affected visit the London2012.com website.
Central Moves have been making plans already for customers moving to or from London with-in these times, Central Moves will be planning the routes in advance. Staff numbers may be an issue in that employees will be required to help in other services so it is important that
if you are considering a move this summer that you BOOK YOUR REMOVAL NOW!
Lots of removal services can be arranged in advance, Packing services, Specialist services and Storage. Removal times will take longer, delays are expected the Olympics will have a significant knock-on effect on international removals too the UK should expect some effect to be felt on customs and port procedures. Customs clearance regulations may be revised with enhanced inspections on shipments and additional handling charges at ports. All of this may slow down operations by a few days and add time to port storage charges.
If you are planning to move this summer then preparing ahead along with Central Moves should make the whole process run much smoother, you must be flexible and patient with us as this is going to be a very challenging summer for our industry.
