Central Moves Ltd at the “Getting Britain Moving” Rally — Westminster, April 2026

On Wednesday 15th April 2026, Central Moves Ltd was proud to join fellow removals professionals in Westminster for the “Getting Britain Moving” rally and lobby event — standing alongside other leading names in the industry, including fellow AIM and BAR members, to make our collective voice heard.

Watch the video above — filmed on the day in Westminster, as Central Moves Ltd joined fellow industry professionals to make their voices heard at the heart of government.

The event was organised around a major industry report from the Policy Liaison Group for Housing Delivery & Growth, with backing from the British Association of Removers (BAR) and Pickfords. It brought together removal companies, trade bodies, and policymakers to shine a spotlight on the vital role our industry plays in keeping the UK housing market functioning — and to push for the changes that are long overdue.

With around 1.2 million home moves taking place in the UK every year, the removals sector underpins the entire property chain. Every sale, every purchase, every family uprooting their lives and starting somewhere new — it all depends on professional removal companies to make it happen safely, efficiently, and on time. Yet despite this, the sector is consistently overlooked in housing reform discussions.

The Getting Britain Moving rally was a chance to change that.

The Challenges Facing the Industry

Removal companies across the country are dealing with pressures that don’t just affect businesses — they affect every customer trying to move home:

  • Delays and uncertainty throughout the buying and selling process
  • High property transaction fall-through rates, often leaving removal companies out of pocket
  • Rising operational costs across fuel, vehicles, and staffing
  • A growing number of unregulated operators undercutting professional standards and putting customers at risk
  • Skills shortages in logistics and transport that are only getting worse

These aren’t new problems — but they are getting harder to ignore.

What the Campaign Is Calling For

The Getting Britain Moving campaign is focused on practical, achievable improvements that would benefit homeowners and professionals alike:

  • Better coordination across the entire property transaction process
  • Minimum timeframes between exchange and completion to allow proper planning
  • Earlier key release on moving day to avoid costly and stressful delays
  • Greater recognition and regulation of professional removals companies
  • Investment in training and skills development within the industry

These aren’t unreasonable asks. They are common-sense changes that would make the moving process smoother, less stressful, and more reliable for everyone involved.
