In 2017, France remains one of the top choices for UK citizens looking to move abroad.
Southern France is of particular interest, (maybe for the weather, food, scenery and relaxing lifestyle) for Brits looking for a good place to retire.
A popular destination is the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, which includes the cities of Poitiers, Limoges and Bordeaux.
Poitiers is in the north of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and is very proud of its rich cultural heritage, as a visit to the Salle du Patrimoine clearly shows. The Salle du Patrimoine is the Heritage Room on the 1st floor of the Tourist Office and is a permanent display presenting the cultural history of the city.
Limoges is in the north-east part of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and famous for its fine porcelain and stained glass. The Fine Arts Museum of Limoges is home to some of the most spectacular tapestries, porcelain, stained glass and enamel art in Europe.
Bordeaux is a port city so is known mainly as the hub for the wine growing region. To some, it is better known for its stunning architecture and beautiful public gardens. Being the southernmost of the three cities mentioned, Bordeaux is probably the most desired area for retirees moving to France.
Although Poitiers, Limoges and Bordeaux are great places to live, there are many towns and villages in Nouvelle-Aquitaine that could be ideal for Brits wishing to move to Southern France. The region can boast some wonderful landscapes and a wide range of climates.
For those that would prefer to live on the coast, there are a number of thriving towns to choose from, including the seaside resort of Arcachon or, further down the coast, the picturesque town of Biarritz.
